Team Topeak-Ergon riders Alban Lakata and Sally Bigham both take wins at UCI Rothaus Hegau Bike Marathon
Team Topeak-Ergon came away with two UCI wins at UCI Rothaus Hegau Bike Marathon in Singen, Germany. Alban Lakata and Sally Bigham continue to show a successful early season as Lakata took his third win of the season, and Bigham’s second.

Bigham joined Team Topeak-Ergon in 2009. The marathon specialist, who resides in England, has a remarkable palmares that includes, but not limited to, being ranked 1st in the UCI Marathon World Ranking in 2011, 1st place overall in the 2011 and 2012 Cape Epic, setting a new course record for the Leadville 100, a silver medal at the UCI World Marathon Championships in 2013, and has managed to become one of the best in the World.
In the women’s race at the Rothaus Hegau Bike Marathon, Sally Bigham rode to a lead early on and rode for over two and a half hours alone in the 98 km race. Bigham also won a muddy Roc D’Ardennes UCI Marathon World Series race the weekend before.
The men’s race played out differently for World Champion Alban Lakata. Like Bigham, the Austrian native signed with Team Topeak-Ergon in 2009 and has won two world championships and Austrian state champion five times.
Lakata had New Zealand rider, Sam Gaze, on his wheel during Rothaus Hegau. He focused on wearing Gaze down throughout the 98km race up until the finish where Lakata was able to take the win in a sprint finish. This was the Austrian’s third victory this season.
