Lazer snow helmets ‘fit’ Julia Murray and Davey Barr in Whistler

Belgian cycling helmet creator debuts ski and board helmets in Canada

WHISTLER, B.C.—Belgium’s Lazer ski and snowboarding helmets arrived in Canada this month, and they’ve already made an impression on Olympians Julia Murray and Davey Barr.

Davey Barr (pictured) and fellow Olympian Julie Murray will make fresh tracks and footage with their GoPro-equipped Lazer snow helmets at Whistler Blackcomb this season.

Live to Play Sports—the new face of Norco Products Ltd.—is the exclusive Canadian distributor to the award-winning brand. Renowned in European cycling circles as the creators of the sport’s first race helmets, Lazer brings their 90-year-old expertise to Canadian mountains for the 2012/2013 season.

“Lazer brings a tradition of innovation to the slopes,” says Live to Play Sports Product Buyer, Sean Glass. “Their cycling helmets have protected the heads of pro-tour riders since 1919. The fact that our own Davey Barr and Julia Murray are wearing the new snow helmets up in Whistler Blackcomb confirms this tradition.”

Both Murray and Barr are Canadian national ski cross team athletes who have collected medals in the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships and represented Canada at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. This year the pros are trading in their old race helmets to compete, freeski, and shoot footage with their new, camera-equipped Lazers.

Murray, Barr, and Lazer snow helmets are a “perfect fit”

“Julia and Davey are the perfect fit for our expanding roster of athletes,” says Hans Dyhrman, Marketing Director for Lazer Snow, from his Antwerp office. “With a proven competition record and a drive to succeed, they are great ambassadors for our products.”

Both Murray and Barr also experienced a “perfect fit” when they first tried out Lazer’s glove-activated Rollsys fit adjustment. Says Barr, “With technology such as the Rollsys system they are the most comfortable ski helmets I have ever worn.”

Says Murray, “I’m stoked to be with Lazer because of their detailed attention to perfect-fitting helmets. And I can use my GoPro with little effort and with no risk of losing it, because of Lazer’s built-in GoPro adaptor.”

Both Julia Murray and Davey Barr will use their helmet-mounted cameras to share a pro’s point-of-view while freeskiing, coaching, competing; and sharing powder with visitors in Whistler Blackcomb’s Ski with an Olympian program.
