Bike maintenance is the key to keeping your bike running smoothly. It may seem like a pain, but a good repair stand makes the process a whole lot easier. Outdoor Gear Lab scrutinized competing work stands to see which ones performed best. Feedback Sports’ Classic won Editor’s choice for being the best all-around stand and Topeak’s Prepstand Pro received Top Pick Award for traveling Techies and Weight Weenies. Parktool’s PCS-10 also received Best-Buy award.
Criteria for Evaluation Included:
- Ease of Clamping
- Angle Adjustment
- Height Adjustment
- Stability
- Everyday Maintenance
- Portability/Weight
- Setup/Breakdown
Exceprts from Outdoor Gear Lab.com:
We tested competitors’ strengths and weaknesses and had everyone from the frequent rider to their non-biking friends mess around with and put them up to the challenge. We jammed them in our cars, set them up in our garages, and left them out in the rain after our rides to find out just exactly what they can handle.
Editors’ Choice Award: Feedback Sports Classic MSRP: $316.99 CAD
Let’s face it, you’re only going to buy one bicycle work stand. As a group, cyclists can be guilty of wanting the perfect bike for every application. Who wants to ride their carbon fiber mountain bike to work if they have a commuter bike with panniers to hold a laptop and change of clothes? It’s got to end somewhere though and the Feedback Sports Classic is a one-stop-shop. During our testing, this stand securely held every bike we had available. We never spent time removing wheels or searching the tool box for adapters. We simply grabbed the stand, unfolded the legs, set the height, and placed the bike in the clamp. The stand was intuitive, light, slim, sturdy, and easy to operate and will serve just as well on the road traveling to races as it will set up in your garage. While other stands had some impressive features, none of them performed as well on the whole. Unlike that bike that slays rocky downhills, but is just too heavy to pedal uphill, you can be confident that this stand will get the job done every time.

Top Pick Award for Traveling Techies and Weight Weenies: Topeak PrepStand Pro MSRP $474.99 CAD
One of our testers still had his Topeak Alien multi-tool that he bought 20 years ago as a freshman in high school (when he first got into mountain biking). He kept showing it to us and raving how it was the only tool he carried aside from a pump; it even came with a handy carrying case. Topeak has continued on the tradition of crafty innovation decades later with a product like the Topeak PrepStand Pro. With an integrated weight scale, you can see just how much less your pack weighs while carrying that Alien, while your riding buddies tote around an entire tool box in their backpacks (or fanny packs if they’re cool enduro racers). They’ll also be psyched when you show up late after the car is all packed for your group trip to Moab with your Prepstand Pro in the included carrying case; it’ll slide in easily amongst all the other cargo. There’s even room to spare for that surprise bottle of single barrel whiskey you hid for sitting around the campfire and talking about your awesome day on the trail. The PrepStand’s long tripod base legs provide stability on uneven ground and won’t tip over if you accidentally back your camp chair into it when you get up to water the bushes.
