UCI Asia Tour sees a Québec team jump into the pack
Etienne Sampson joins the pack in Stage 1 of UCI’s Asia Tour in Vietnam
HO CHI MING CITY, Vietnam—Étienne Sampson of Québec’s Team Norco Bicycles/Premier Tech followed two attacks and found himself in the break in Stage 1 of the ADC Tour of Vietnam (part of UCI’s Asia Tour). The stage route runs 160 kilometres from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho City.

“[Sampson] followed the first attacks right after the neutral start and following a few accelerations, it’s gone, he’s in the break!
“That was a large group of escapees in which all the big teams were represented (Astana, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Hong Kong, etc.). Therefore, everything seemed possible. During the first two hours the break built a good gap, covering almost 100 kilometres (average speed of 48 km/h for those who are interested)…”
