UK rider talks to Mountain Biking UK about his new bike’s specs
Olly Wilkins is one of the UK’s smoothest dirt jumpers. Now, after riding for DMR Bikes for years, he’s designed his dream bike. Available in Canada in June 2013, the Sect line—frame, stem, seat, and grips—reveals Wilkins’s obsession with weight and dirt.
MBUK asked Wilkins to describe his ride:
“I’m a bit of a weight-obsessive, I guess. Throughout the new Sect range we had strict weight targets that we stuck to religiously. I think you can go too light though. My bike is down to 23lb (10.4kg), but I won’t be using Ti bolts just yet.”
“I run an X-fusion Velvet fork with a super-stiff tapered steerer. I like my fork to move. A lot of dirt jump guys run their fork so hard and with no rebound. I like mine to feel a bit more active. I set it up slower than my other bikes though…” Read entire story in MBUK (PDF).
