Mountain biking is going to see some major changes in the next decade. The aspiring athletes of today, though they might still be in their youth, have the drive, the skills, and the gear to fundamentally change our sport, for the better. It only takes being passed by a ten year old on one of Whistler Bike Park’s jump lines to understand… these kids are on a whole other level.
Talents like these don’t appear in a vacuum, however. “It takes a village…” after all. Thanks to the dedication of their mentors, the conditions are right for today’s young mountain bikers to progress faster than any generation before them.
IMBA’s Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day, held June 9th and October 13th, encourages parents, trail stewards, and coaches to foster the love for mountain biking, and help the next generation of riders shape the future of our sport.
