Dear SRAM Customer: You may have a bicycle equipped with Avid® Single Digit® 7 mechanical rim brakes.
These brakes are the subject of a safety recall. If your bike has Avid Single Digit 7 brakes, PLEASE STOP RIDING YOUR BIKE until you determine whether your brake is part of the recall.
Some of the affected brakes may have been manufactured with rivets which may work loose from the brake unit which can cause one of the two brakes to fail. If a bicycle is operated with brakes only on one wheel, the bicycle may experience extended stopping distance or otherwise brake in a manner that is unexpected by the rider. You could crash or fall from the bicycle.
To determine if your brakes are part of the recall, check the date code on the back of the brake arm. The affected brakes will have a date code between June 1, 2014 and May 26, 2017. In addition, the Avid Single Digit 7 brakes were only sold in black.
