Women’s Specific Wet Weather Mountain Bike Gear

LTP Marketing and Communications Supervisor Sarah Moore is no stranger to ‘Wet Coast’ mountain biking. Since moving to Vancouver from Montreal a few years ago, Sarah has found herself riding more muddy and wet trails than ever before, and she needs her waterproof riding gear to keep up.

Enter Endura Apparel. Designed in the Scottish Highlands, Endura clothing is designed specifically for wet-weather riding. Their MT500 and Singletrack collections are ideal for riders who need breathability for hard climbs, and waterproof materials for wet descents.

Sarah has been enjoying the MT500 waterproof shorts and Singletrack Jacket, both in the women’s specific cut. Through rain, hail, mud and snow they’ve kept her on the bike and comfortable. Here are her thoughts on her new favorite cycling kit:

Endura MT500 Women’s Short

My new favourite shorts. They fit me perfectly, even with knee pads, and are super comfortable thanks to the strategic stretchy parts. I was worried that they wouldn’t be comfortable since they’re made of waterproof material, but I was totally wrong. The 4-way stretch Cordura front panels and rear stretch waterproof panel make these shorts as comfortable as regular, not waterproof shorts.

I use them much more than I thought I would. Obviously, they make rainy weather riding way more fun, but I’ve also found myself gravitating to them after it rains. I’m typically a “puddle dodger” but I’m a lot less cautious when I don’t have to worry about my chamois getting wet. Trail builders rejoice!

I haven’t found them too hot on any of my rides, but I like the fact that they have zipped thigh vents in case you get caught in the rain, and then the sun comes out.

Endura Singletrack Women’s Jacket

I have never received so much positive feedback on a jacket. People just love the colour of this one.

The first time I wore this jacket was in a downpour, and I fully expected there to be a couple wet spots on my jersey when I took off the jacket, but I was TOTALLY dry. I couldn’t believe it.

I love that the hood fits OVER the helmet. So often, I’m cold off the start of the ride, and having a hood on is so nice when you step out of the house. And then, once you turn into the woods and start riding you can easily throw off the helmet with one hand when you start overheating going up the first hill! Waiting for your buddies at the top of the climb, or have someone in your group get a flat tire? Throw the hood back on for some extra warmth!

The underarm zipped vents are also awesome for this same reason. I feel like riding in the rain requires you need to have clothing that is easily adjusted to stay the right temperature. It’s so often “I’m dying of heat” followed by “I’m freezing” on a wet mountain bike ride, but the Singletrack jacket helps find that balance and ideal temperature for riding.

I like that you can do up the cuffs really tight so you don’t get water up your sleeves. And that there are front handwarmer pockets – hands are usually the first thing to get cold.

If you’re the type to stay on your bike through the wet and cold months, head to your local Live to Play Sports dealer and grab some Endura gear for yourself.
