In the context of the city’s Greenest City initiative to reduce waste, Business in Vancouver highlighted Axiom Cycling Gear’s innovative new line of cycling bags. Made from a new fabric Axiom calls Oceanweave, they are the world’s first cycling bags to be made from recycled fishing nets.
Asked where the idea for Oceanweave came from, Axiom Product Manager Andrew Belson said, “My son was in tears after he saw pictures of turtles stuck in nets. He asked me, ‘Why doesn’t somebody do something about the nets?’ It gave me a kick in the butt to get going on it.”
