E*thirteen TRS+ and TRSr Tires Reviewed

Best known for their cassettes and chain retention systems, E-thirteen have been bringing high quality wet-weather mountain bike tires to market for almost a year now. Their TRS tire system has been exceptionally popular so far, with stellar reviews from media, including Pinkbike, VitalMTB and Bikeradar.

The TRS+ and TRSr tires are the latest offerings to hit the shelves at Live to Play Sports. Both feature the same tough casing and aggressive tread pattern.

The TRS+ is a true 2.35” width tire optimized for modern inner rim widths of 24-31mm. It features a durable dual compound (61a/50a). A row of hard-biting side knobs is bolstered by an angled, structural base to control roll under high speed cornering. Sipes on the knob surfaces are positioned to provide confidence while transitioning from straight line to cornering and back, and underpin excellent braking traction. Ramped, shorter center knobs keep all TRS tires rolling fast.

The fanciest knobs in the world are useless without a solid foundation, so the TRS series of tires feature a sturdy enduro-specific casing with a tough reinforced sidewall. This burly structure guarantees that the tire won’t fold under compression when you need grip the most, but still hits a sub 1000g weight.

TRS tires are designed to be easy to mount tubeless; one of the main goals in developing the tires was to perfect the tubeless fit. That means a tubeless compatible bead that works with both hooked and hookless rims and won’t squirm on the rim or burp sealant under extreme cornering loads.

The TRSr is the race version of the TRS+. This tire features the same tread pattern and casing of the TRS+, but sports a triple compound for ultimate grip. The softer compound (42a/40a+72a) is exceptionally sticky for improved wet-weather handling.

“E-13 tires have a predictable breaking point in corners, the durometer in the dual compound is perfect for the riding I do around here and handles roots and wet rock effortlessly. No issues with confidence pushing these tires in all conditions.”
