Winning the title of “Best Waterproof MTB Jacket That Money Can Buy” is an impressive feat, but everyone we’ve talked to after trying the jacket concurs. Endura hit it out of the park with the MT500. Lightweight, totally waterproof, and super breathable, this jacket is absolutely everything you could want to keep you comfortable on rainy days.
But don’t take our word for it. Enduro-mtb.com just reviewed this jacket, and they gave it one of their highest ratings ever.
The Endura MT500 Waterproof Jacket II is a proper mountain jacket, with a high 18,000 mm waterproof rating and fully waterproof zip and wide storm flap. The team loved the tailored, athletic fit and the high quality materials, inspiring confidence on the really filthy days. The high collar with comfortable lining is sanctuary from hard winds and the long underarm and front vents can be cracked right open for massive ventilation if the sun shines. The highly breathable 64,000 g/m2 rating ExoShell60 3 layer fabric deals with sweat build up well, but as with all jackets it’s best with the vents opened a little. The large 3D hood can accommodate a helmet easily and is highly adjustable. We loved the internal stretch cuff on the sleeves, stopping water driving up past your wrists in really foul weather, it’s little details like these that show the MT500’s Scottish heritage. If you ride a lot with a heavy backpack the durable Cordura panels and silicone grips will keep the jacket looking new for longer. When the weather really turned crappy all the testers agreed that the protective cocoon of the MT500 jacket was the best place to be.
The Endura MT500 is the definitive mountain jacket, superbly waterproof, rugged and with enough pockets and vents for real adventuring. If you ride a lot in heavy rain, or venture high into the mountains the MT500 would be our pick.
