Summer Report: 2016 Haro Canada BMX Team presented by Live to Play Sports/Joyride 150/IXS

Supported by Live to Play Sports, Haro Bikes, Joyride 150,  IXS Sports and Milltown Cycle the team roster includes some of Canadas best rising BMX stars: Amelia Walsh (23) of Ayr, Ontario, Alex Wright (19) of Kingston, Ontario, Josh Samells (17) of Milton, Ontario, Niko Doyle(18) of Kingston, Ontario, Emily Macpherson (18) of Kingston, Ontario. Also on the roster is Masters racer and Coach Brendan Arnold, 38 from Stouffville, ON.

After a successful spring that saw Niko Doyle, Josh Samells and Amelia Walsh all selected to Team Canada for World Championships it was a busy summer with multiple big events in North America and UCI events in Canada.

The summer started with the Canada Cup in Drummondville, QC. Josh Samells picking up a solid 2nd place in U19 Men. In U19 Women Emily MacPherson took home a bronze medal. Alex Wright finished with a solid 4th place in Elite Men.

Following the Canada Cup the team raced at the USA Steel City National in Pittsburgh. Emily was able to make the main but it was Josh Samells who was most impressive with his first US podium in 2016.

The summer concluded with the National Championships in Calgary, Alberta. The team was racing under the Ontario flag and took home 2 silver medal, and 2 5th place finished. Josh Samells was very impressive (First Year Junior). He will be in the hunt for the title in 2017.

After a very impressive summer it is time for the team to take a week off before ramping back up for the final North American race of the season, USA Grandnational in Tulsa. Oklahoma at the end of November.
