Staff Rides: Whitehorse, YT

4087814326_d311e5d160_oAnyone who has had the pleasure of traveling to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, and riding bikes will recount the experience with a great big smile on their face. We guarantee it.

Whitehorse has world class trails, and lots of them. Over 300km of singletrack and even more doubletrack and old roadbed, totaling more than 700km of trails within the city limits.

Whether you are seeking long singletrack climbs, epic descents, or a leisurely pedal along the river, Whitehorse has the perfect trail for you.

4819588515_d81eb91a94_o The combination of amazing trails, post-card caliber scenery, and some of the nicest people you’ll meet makes for an amazing trip. Travel in late June or early July for 20+ hours of daylight and you’ll have tons of time to explore, then sit and relax on a patio and bask in the midnight sun.

If you’re looking for a really good time, checkout the 24 Hours of Light, a mountain bike festival which happens every year over the summer solstice. It’s Canada’s only 24hour relay race where lights are illegal!

“Everything about riding in the Yukon is Great! Great people, trails, coffee, food and beer!  The trail crew up there has invested lots of effort in building new trails and maintaining existing ones. It’s not uncommon to find remnants of the gold rush along the trails. It’s worth taking time to enjoy the flow of these trails but also stop along the way to enjoy some lookouts and gold rush artifacts. Your imagination will take you back in time and you could imagine what those first gold rush explorers went through. The terrain is endless and so are the days.  Have fun!
