Reviews say the new remote-controlled dropper post from Thomson is smooth stuff

The Thomson Elite Dropper post is available in Canada mid-June 2013. The adjustable seatpost uses oil, nitrogen, and a slim, remote-control lever on the handlebar to instantly lower or raise your saddle up to 5 inches (125mm) on the trail.

True to Thomson’s reputation for hand-crafted componentry, the one-piece inner post is hand-forged for strength and reliability. The entire post assembly weighs just 592g, and is currently available in 30.9 and 31.6 post widths, both at a 400mm length.

According to Dropper specifications, the oil-dampened, nitro-charged post moves at a rate of .3 meters per second, but slows in the last 15mm of upwards travel for a comfortable return.
