New for 2013, award-winning rolling bike tool box includes over 40 pro-quality tools
Topeak Prepstation is now available in Canada. Introduced at Interbike in 2012, the expanding bike workbench-on-wheels won a Red Dot Design Award for innovative product design in March 2013. The international award recognizes designs that significantly differentiate themselves in the marketplace.
40 pro-quality shop tools, included, fit in five stacking tool trays which raise to a convenient working height and rotate around a central column to provide complete access to all tools at all times.
Topeak Prepstation is a hand cart-style tool box that holds almost 100 bike tools, included, in six nesting trays on a wheeled base. At rest, the tool box stands thigh-high, secures with a latch, and is easy to tote and roll. In use, the station expands and each tray swivels out for quick tool access.
At Prepstation’s preview in Las Vegas last year, reviewers were quick to share their enthusiasm:
Bicycling magazine called it “a complete tool solution for the mechanic on the go.” They pointed out that “with one dedicated tray for small parts and the large base, there is plenty of room for spare parts, cleaning supplies, lube, degreaser, and anything else you may need.” Read review in bicycling.com.
Bikerumor.com wrote, “The trays stack on top of each other, most with foam cutouts to keep tools organized and protected during transport. The top tray has small parts bins for your own collection of nuts and bolts, and the bottom is open for storage of larger items. When closed, a large, lockable latch flips up and keeps them from opening.
“Open it by flipping up the walkabout handle and grabbing the handle on the top tray. Squeeze the yellow lever to lift the top tray and the others follow it up. Then, you just rotate them around to access each level. When it’s time to leave, just line them up and drop ‘em back down by reversing the process.
