Ridley – Tour de France

The Lotto Belisol team has had a great Tour de France on their Ridley bikes! The German sprinter Andre Greipel has won 3 stages, and finished second in the points classification. The success of “Der Gorilla” is thanks to the whole team, and the lead-out train in particular. Sieberg, Roelandts and Henderson produce so much power and speed that they can ensure that other teams have no chance to form a sprint train of their own. This way, they pilot Greipel perfectly to the finish line while the other sprinters have to fight for his wheel. This resulted in 3 victories in the bunch sprint.

The Belgian hope for a good place in the GC was Jurgen Van den Broeck, and he has certainly not disappointed! Despite bad luck in the stage to ‘La Planche des belles filles’ he was able to secure a 4th place. Due to the high amount of TT kilometers, this probably was the highest classification possible. In the mountains, Van den Broeck showed that he was one of the best climbers in the peloton. Instead of just following Wiggins, he tried to attack several times. This made the race more interesting to follow, especially for us Belgians!

With 3 stage wins and a 4th place in the GC, this certainly was a successful Tour de France for Lotto-Belisol and Ridley Bikes!
