Lazer’s new WASP Air is ‘best all rounder TT helmet on the market’: road.cc

lazer-WASP-air-tt-aero-helmetNew for 2015, Lazer Sport has taken the aero performance of the Wasp time trial helmet and revamped it with the shorter Wasp Air.

Designed for triathlon, track- and TT riders, the Wasp Air features a cropped tail and is optimized for maximum aerodynamic gains, even without perfect form.

“We haven’t all got the ability to achieve the perfect aero position so they provide a decent compromise for those who can’t get a long tail to fit flat on their back.

The idea is that in a longer event a rider dips and moves their head more. If you are wearing a full-length faired helmet that gives quite a penalty as the tail sits up into the wind like a sail.” – Road.cc

While TT helmets are notoriously difficult to squeeze on, the Wasp Air is easy to put on and adjust thanks to Lazer’s Advanced Turnfit System, which cradles the back of your skull for a snug fit.

“The Air is comfortable, which in the course of a long time trial is a big bonus. Everything is going to hurt so the last thing you want is a heavy uncomfortable lid. In fact it’s so user friendly that I grab it for training on the time trial bike, not something I’d normally do.” – Road.cc

The Wasp Air also features an integrated visor that comes with three lenses for variable light conditions.

“Overall I think the Air is probably the best all rounder time trial helmet on the market and I’d certainly sacrifice a few watts for the amount of comfort it gives.”
