The system uses an optical sensor that measures your heart rate based on blood flow beneath the skin on your forehead. Although the sensor looks as though it protrudes from the helmet, it easily squishes down and is so soft and comfortable that you completely forget it is there while riding!<\/p>\n<p>The lifeBEAM heart rate technology is renowned for its precise measurements as it was originally developed to monitor vital signs of astronauts and pilots. First, click the LED light into place on the back of the mount. Then slide the mount into the back of the helmet like this, and click on the brain unit.\u00a0After that, remove the front lining of the helmet and replace it with the LifeBEAM padding and sensor. Once connected, you will see a blue light and hear 3 beeps on the processing unit.
