SRAM brings the “lightest and cheapest” 11-speed groups to market<\/h1>\n

Vancouver, BC\u2014Live to Play Sports<\/a>, Canada’s largest distributor of bike parts and accessories, will offer SRAM’s 11-speed and hydraulic brake road technology<\/a> to Canada’s bike stores in May 2013, announced product manager Geoff Pradine today.<\/p>\n

SRAM road in 11-speed<\/h2>\n

According to Pradine, SRAM Road<\/a> is launching their entrance into the 11-speed category with Red 22<\/a> and Force 22<\/a>. Both drivetrain groups will have 11-speed shifting in the rear and 2-speed shifting at the front. Up until today, SRAM only had road shifting up to 10-speed in the rear. At 1747 grams, SRAM\u2019s top end Red 22 group can claim lighter weight<\/strong> than its competitors.<\/p>\n

SRAM Road introduces hydraulic brakes<\/h2>\n

Pradine also notes that SRAM will be the first major parts company to offer a hydraulic brake options in their road drivetrain groups<\/strong>.\u00a0SRAM’s Red 22 group will be available in a standard mechanical pull, hydraulic rim brake, and hydraulic disc brake option.\u00a0\u00a0SRAM will also be making a SRAM-branded SB-700 10-speed shift-brake system for hydraulic rim brake and hydraulic disc brakes<\/a>. This, suggests Pradine, “would be a perfect complement to 10-speed Red and 10-speed Force groups in the market.”<\/p>\n

In anticipation of consumer release, bikeradar.com has posted a component-by-component tour of the SRAM 11-speed groupsets<\/a> in words and photos. Bikeradar lists weights of all components in the\u00a0 article, and adds that “SRAM can already claim to be the lightest and cheapest<\/strong> (in most countries) top-end 11-speed group<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n
