The Code was already a well respected downhill and freeride brake system, but a series of upgrades ensure the Code RSC will dominate the category.

The first, and most obvious change to the Code is the new lever body. Based on the Guide lever, the new design sports updated reach and contact adjustments (even easier to use with gloves on than the previous Code design). The new brake lever also benefits from the Guide’s SwingLink cam, increasing power as the lever is pulled farther through its stroke. This design means more modulation as well as more power as the brakes start to bite.

Downhill racing puts additional stresses on a brake, and requires a design that takes those stresses into account. SRAM increased the Code lever’s reservoir volume by 30% for better heat dissipation. This larger reservoir has been moved higher and farther back on the lever body, further lowering the risk of air migrating back into the lever.

The Code Caliper features larger pistons, further increasing the pressure the lever can exert on the brake pads. More pressure, and thus more powerful braking, does come with a heat penalty, and so the new Code caliper has been designed with an additional heat shield between pad and piston. This gives the new brake better ability to resist heat buildup and prevent the brake fading on extended descents.

SRAM produced this introductory video of the brakes, which does an amazing job of showcasing the benefits of increased braking control on technical terrain.

The SRAM Code R and RSC brakes will be in stock very soon, and can be preordered through your local Live to Play Sports Dealer.

SRAM Code R
LTP Part number: 310151-01 / 02
MSRP: $208.99

SRAM Code RSC
LTP Part number: 310150-01
MSRP: $332.99

The SRAM Code brake has been revised for 2017, featuring a new lever design and a re-tooled caliper, which promises to boost power by 15%, while increasing modulation.
