Ramon’s favorite spot to unwind\u00a0is the Whistler Bike park. Even though the Torrent 7 FS+ is designed to be a capable all-mountain bike, Ramon pushes the boundaries of its intended usein his search for steep fast trails and air-time, and his build on the bike reflects that.<\/p>\n

As a burly rider, SRAM’s Guide RE brakes\u00a0were the first upgrade, these DH and E-bike optimized brakes have easily\u00a0enough stopping power to keep Ramon out of trouble.<\/p>\n

“Guide RE is basically a Guide lever with a Code caliper. This means great modulation and stopping power to the max.”

Ramon makes a point of introducing as many of his friends as possible to riding. One of the\u00a0things he’s noticed in his time as a trail-guide is that the plus-sized tires supplied\u00a0on bikes like this Torrent are a huge help to first time riders. The larger tire footprint inspires confidence uphill and downhill. While they might not be as playful or fast as narrower tires, they can make the experience more enjoyable overall.<\/p>\n

“The secret to mountain biking is to ride with in your ability 80% of the time, in order to enjoy yourself. You don\u2019t want to feel like you might die every time you hit the trails but it\u2019s good to feel like you might die trying something out SOMETIMES! Try and ride with buddies that are of a similar skill level or higher and same riding style, so you improve. FUN is definitely the most important factor in there.”
