Andre Greipel of the Lotto-Belisol Professional Cycling Team sprinted to win back to back victories on stage 4 and 5 of the 2012 Tour de France.<\/p>\n

While many riders in the professional peloton were using some variation of covered helmet, Greipel was using a new Lazer Aeroshell design to achieve an additional advantage, the Lazer Smooth Aeroshell!<\/p>\n

As opposed to a cover that matches the outer profile of the Lazer Helium helmet, the new Aeroshell has a completely smooth outer surface to provide the maximum aerodynamic performance benefit.<\/p>\n

The new Smooth Aeroshell allows the rider to save between 4 and 10 watts of energy when cycling at 45kph as compared to a Helium helmet without the Smooth Aeroshell. This aerodynamic effect allows the rider to achieve a performance benefit of between 12 and 30 seconds over 40 kilometers.<\/p>\n

The Lazer Helium helmet itself has been determined to already be one of the fastest road helmets commercially available. Adding the Smooth Aeroshell makes the Helium the best choice for aerodynamic performance!<\/p>\n

The Smooth Aeroshell aerodynamics achieve two goals: It allows a rider to save energy during their ride by reducing the amount of power required to cycle at the same speed. It also allows a rider to ride faster with the same power output which makes it the perfect accessory for sprinting!<\/p>\n

The Lazer Smooth Aeroshell will be available in four sizes to fit each of the Helium helmet sizes and will have a retail price of $20.<\/p>\n
